View Full Version : Busy Enough?

Noticed this on the forum: "Most users ever online was 102 on 05-28-2003 at 03:18 PM." (It was about half that until today.)
While the current NAC "crisis" is not yet over for some of us, I commend everyone at HM for keeping us well informed and managing to keep a cool head through all of this ...not to mention pushing ahead work on the P10 router for our benefit.
Reason 1,342,340 why I like HM: HM never acts like the proverbial deer in the headlights.
~Maurice
It's now up to 111 ;)
Make that 112

Aren't you a smart aleck! ;)
In that case, ...make it 115.

I try to stick with what I am good at. ;)

It's very busy, indeed. We're actually getting a lot of traffic that would ordinarily be going to other hosts' own support forums - except those hosts are still down as well, and generally don't have a remote status area. So they get to see all the news fit to print here.
I think this thread is making us looking like the two guys who sit on the porch and watch the paint dry and the grass grow. :) Speaking of which I think I need to mow my grass.
My turn :DMost users ever online was 136 on 05-28-2003 at 03:04 PM.

I'm sure wishing right about now that I would have had the sense to go and set up a remote status page off-NAC!

I too am glad that HM keeps us well informed. I got plenty of phone calls today, but I was able to let them know exactly what happened and that calmed what would have normally been an uncomfortable situation. Thanks HM...I guess, I will go home now and pray for you all...

Yes, I am glad I found HM, too. Knowing what is wrong helps aleve at least some of the stress.
But I still have all my NOC sited down... plus one at Peak 10 nobody can get to. *sigh*
You don't suppose NAC is dragging their feet on fixing HM servers because they're leaving, do you?

SumBodyElze,
Paranoid minds think alike... I posted that same theory on my blog a few seconds before I read this.

I can't believe NAC still doesn't have us up. This is working on 7 hours.
What's happening to all of the emails that people are sending? Are they getting any kind of error messages or do they just vanish into oblivion?

I was aware of today's problems @ NAC but i didn't knew how to reach the forum because also the DNS server seemed to be affected by the issue: i 've dropped a line to the helpdesk asking for an IP or something like that to reach the forum and see the latest news and 2 (two) minutes later i had the answer...
I just wanna thanks all the HM crew... you're great!

I've done exactly the same and received a very swift answer too.
HM cannot control things like this happening, yet they still deliver good service and keep us up to date.
As a good - and learning customer - I've bookmarked the offsite status page as well now :)

I sent a test email from work and after about and hour it bounced back.

Everyone should bookmark the remote status page at http://www.hmdns.org/nagios/ as that will also have updates. Right now is has a direct link, via IP, to the announcements area in the forum here where we're keeping all the updates.
Conspiracy theorists should take that particular item down from the flagpole (see the general support area for why).
In cases where mail delivery results in immediate failure, the sending system will spool the mail for retry. Our own servers do this, in fact, and it's pretty standard all around for mail.

Alice sighed wearily. “I think you might do something better with the time,” she said, “than wasting it in asking riddles that have no answers.”
“If you knew Time as well as I do,” said the Hatter, “you wouldn’t talk about wasting it. It’s him.”
“I don’t know what you mean,” said Alice.
“Of course you don’t,” said the Hatter, tossing his head contemptuously. “I dare say you never even spoke to Time!”

"Perhaps not, but I know I have to beat time when I learn music."
"Ah, that accounts for it," said the Hatter. "He wo'n't stand for a beating. Now, if you only kept on good terms with him, he'd do almost anything you liked with the clock...."
