I use Netscape for some browsing but IE currently vs 5.5 for the bulk of surfing.

Today after I returned from some errands I found that IE will not connect with any sites while netscape finds all of them that I try. I get "error 502 bad gateway". I shut down the computer and restarted it but the problem still exists.

Well folks I just tried again and now I connect okay. The problem existed for about 2 hours. Strange! has anyone else had this happen and what could cause it? Could the ISP be creating a problem? My cable modem lights flashed to show a send and receive so the request did go out. Well standby as it is now unable to connect again. Crazy.

Did you try to reset your connection settings in IE? Sometimes you might have to do this so it can re-find the proxy.

Yes Affy we know IE := Problem

Peace!

Shutting down resetting nothing worked. It finally just started working okay after about 3 hrs. Weird I think it had something to do with my ISP.

probably some options in your ISP's DHCP offer that made IE's auto-configure set some sort of proxy or gateway option that none of the other browsers care about... DHCP offers can have a lot of weird parameteres in it.
