Google unveiled their Adwords Select program yesterday afternoon. It's a pay per click version of their existing Adwords program. It has some nice features that Goto/Overture does not have, besides being on google.com, that is.

Automatic bid gap surfing. With Goto, you have to monitor for gaps below your bid or you waste your money. Google will automatically adjust your bid to 1 cent above the next bidder.

Click thru/relevance tracking. Google tracks which ads get the most clicks and adjusts their position up. Ranking of the ads are determined by a combination of bid & click thru/relevance.

Instant setup. No 3-7 day wait for for approval like goto.

Pay after clicks instead of prepay.

No minimum monthly charge.

With Google already replacing overture results on the earthlink portal, I'd say they're taking square aim at the competition. If you didn't sell your Overture stock during the last crash & rebound, I'd do it now.
